Florence

Florence

Florence — Tuscany, Italy’s capital region is a priced city not only in the country but in the whole of Europe as well. Florence is known as the cradle of Italian, Renaissance and thus one can expect for it to be a wonderful place to head to and explore.

Florence is a beautiful city that one can come back to several times and still find lots waiting to be discovered. This basically means that the place is impossible to cover. As a matter of fact, getting hang-overs from art, architecture, history and culture overload is not so hard to get as even the beauty of the place will wear you out.

Museums

Museums make up a huge portion of most sightseeing sprees in Florence. Works by Michaelangelo, Raphael, Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci which are showcased as the most priced Italian Renaissance pieces not only in their home in Florence but also in the whole word, are definitely worth your time whether you be an art lover or not.

For this, the most suggested museums would be Uffizi, Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, Museo del Bargello, Galleria dell’Accademia, Museo Stibbert, and Museo Horne.

Cathedrals and Buildings

Florence has a lot to give when it comes to their spiritual roots. As a matter of fact, a huge portion of the city’s art pieces are in the form of paintings in cathedrals and in the architecture of the cathedrals and buildings itself.

Il Duomo (Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore)  is one cathedral that one should never miss in a Florence visit. The cathedral is structured after authentic renaissance design and is even hailed as one of the top, if not the top attractions in Florence.

Duomo cupola (Campanile)  is a part of Il Duomo and yet is given praise as an architectural piece of beauty apart from the cathedral. It is, along with the baptistery of the cathedral, among the most visited spots in the city.

St. John’s Baptistery is another part of Il Duomo which has its own name and identity in Florence’s most visited spots. The much known feature of the baptistery’s architecture is the intricate carvings of biblical scenes on its bronze doors.

Outdoors and Gardens

Ponte Vecchio is Florence oldest bridge. It is also the most famous and among the most photographed sights in the city. Due to this, the bridge is often seen as a place of high foot traffic which is also due because its location is laden with interesting shops and stops.

Giardino di Boboli  remains a place of wonderful Renaissance design and architecture despite the swarm of visitors that come to it every single day. Cypress-lined gardens that lead to the Isolotto along with the magnificent Giambologna Venus sculpture in the Grotta del Buontalenti and Igor Mitoraj’s haunting face sculpture are just a few of the many sights your eyes can gaze upon in the garden.

Parco della Cascine  is a free-admission yet almost equally beautiful outdoor activity park in Florence. Joggers come for an energizing run graced by the scenic environments and families come to enjoy activities such as walking through the park’s beautiful fountains or to enjoy a good tennis game in the courts. On Tuesday mornings, a flea market is available for everyone who’s in for a good bargain.

Still there are lots to discover and see in Florence. As there are lots to lay your eyes in the Tuscany’s heart and still more that is waiting to get done it will be very smart to plan out your itinerary by considering routes; means of going in, out and about attractions in the city; taking note of the opening schedules of the attractions; and even noting the weather during the span of your visit.
