  5. Medgar Evers House. Medgar Evans played a vital role in the Civil Rights Movement. Take a tour of his home and learn about the life of this courageous man.   6. Mississippi Children’s Museum. With hands-on exhibits, this is a wonderful museum for children to learn and to experience. Explore the cultural arts, science and technology, and health and nutrition. The kids will be entertained for hours here.
  7. Mississippi Governor’s Mansion. This is the second oldest continuously occupied governor’s mansion in the United States. Take a tour and experience the stunning architecture and history that’s contained inside. This is the place that General Sherman once used as a headquarters during the Civil War.
  8. Jackson Zoological Park. This is a fun zoo, accredit by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association. What does that mean? It means that the zoo is a leader in global conservation and aims to help animals live in native habitats. Take a peek at the chimanzees, Sumartran tigers, Red Pandas and so many more unique animals.
  9. Mississippi war Memorial. Pay tribute to those who lost their lives during the wars. The fine granite building has stunning artwork that honors Mississippi veterans who fought in different wars, including those of the Civil War. Be sure to stop by the exact replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Solider, like the one that is in Arlington National Cemetery.
  10. Antebellum Homes. Jackson is rich in American history. Get a feel of old-Jackson with a tour of the restored historic homes.
